Happy Thursday Folks! Today marks an amazing day for me, because it is officially According to T’s anniversary. A year ago today, I answered my first question and posted my first response. It’s crazy to think that I’ve been blogging for 12 months. You all have to understand, I wasn’t sure I’d be doing this for a few months let alone for a year. I kind of thought I was running with this crazy idea that people wouldn’t buy into or understand. So I’m thankful for all the support and positive vibes I received from site visitors and those seeking advice. It’s honestly quite humbling.
What many people don’t know, is that According to T was an idea that was implanted in my head years ago. I’m talking President Obama’s first time in office. My friends had always said I give good advice, and told me I should “market” that advice to others. However, back when they suggested the idea, I looked at them crazy. I didn’t consider myself a writer, and for all intent purposes, I consider myself to be rather shy. It wasn’t until I read T.D. Jakes’ Instinct that I decided to go for it, and pursue a hidden passion of mine.
No the passion was for giving advice, but for writing. Yeah I know I said I never considered myself a writer, but I discovered that I do love the craft. I certainly didn’t think I would discover a love for it, given I hated writing papers in high school and college. But, give me a topic I genuinely care about, and remove the possibility of receiving a grade from a professor, and I actually love it. It’s kind of therapeutic even.
Anyways, back to the point. After reading the T.D. Jakes book, and being inspired by the Lazarus series of Rashid Darden, I began writing my novel Majoring in Me (Acceptance). In the midst of that, I thought back to my friends and what they told me about offering my unlicensed Dr. Phil services. LOL! So naturally, since I was exploring myself as a writer, I started the advice site that is here today. (Well gave the site a facelift back in February, but you all get what I’m saying.)
Again, thanks so much for all the support and love I’ve received. I can only hope the site continues to grow and reach new heights. That it attracts more viewers and more people seeking some words of wisdom.
As always nothing but love,
